Erasmus+ visit to Sweden

Mrs McLean and Miss Greenaway had a fascinating trip to Sweden last week. We stayed in Molndal just outside Gothenburg.

We took part in lots of activities in the woodlands, using digital microscopes and discussing different books that the teachers link with the outdoor activities.

We had many of our lunches outside in the fresh air just like the children do. All children have a free school meal at lunchtime. We got to sample delicious Swedish meatballs and homemade soup amongst other things.

We also visited a creative resource centre which collects ‘waste’ from companies, teachers and education professionals can then visit the centre for art workshops and to collect resources to take into school to use for expressive art activities.

We also had the opportunity to participate in our own art workshop, creating a large piece of art work by moving paint, using clay to paint, and rolling clay sausages to make giant leaves.

A visit to a local school to work with some children was fascinating. Firstly carrying out some map work outside and then walking through the playground into the woodlands and up the ‘mountain’!

We used lots of types of transport while we were in Sweden – trams, trains, buses, ferries and lots of walking!
Our hosts also showed us around some of the local sights.

All in all a fantastic visit with lots of ideas to bring home to Gowerton!
