Caterpillars Class Update – Remembrance Day Activities

Wow, what a busy couple of weeks we have had in school. This week we have been finding out about Remembrance Day. We learnt about the War and the sacrifices people made during this time. Here is a great link that we watched to explain the story

We made our very own poppies and discovered they must be worn on the left hand side, just over the heart. We sat and chatted about how the War made people feel and how we felt too.

Poppy Collages

We used a variety of collage materials to make our own poppies.

Love tokens – we designed and make love token bracelets to give to a friend. We used the colours of the poppy to make a repeating pattern.

Poppy Pasta Fun – this was our absolute favourite! We explored coloured spaghetti made into a poppy shape. Mrs Williams said we used great descriptive language – ‘sludgy, slimy. disgusting, wriggly worms, yucky, cool!’

IWB Poppies – we explored the Interactive Whiteboard Board making a field of poppies. We could change colour and brush size on our designs.

Poppy Fields – Apple Prints

We washed a blue background, then used apples to print poppies. We used a variety of equipment to print the stems. A wonderful field of poppies!
