Happy Monday Caterpillars Classes! What a beautiful sunny day 🌞 I hope you have had a wonderful weekend and managed to get out and explore the little bit of snow that we had. Did anyone find enough snow to make Sneezy? ⛄️ I would love to see any snowmen that you made or fun in the snow!
This week’s Home Learning is all about having as much fun as you can!!! There’s even a list of things for grownups too.
Let’s start off with a bit of Dough Disco….. What is Dough Disco?
Dough Disco™ is a fine muscle exercise that Shonette Bason~Wood invented when she realised the children in her class were struggling to write letters. She read a great deal of books about brain development and the fingers are one of the last things the brain controls. A group of neuro developmental practioners called INPP do an exercise with older children called tapping. It’s simply tapping the fingers in a certain order, some quite complex, on the table in front of them. She enjoyed it as much as the children and it started the growth of Dough Disco. She used dough because everyone loves dough and disco because music stimulates our happiness chemicals which in turn impact on memory. With a daily Dough Disco™ the child’s brain learns to control the fingers a lot quicker. It has no age limit because fine muscle needs exercise just like gross muscles so even grown-ups can join in!

100 things to do indoors
Choose 5 things from this list that you think you can do this week – I can’t wait to see what you choose!
Dydd Santes Dwynwen
Dydd Santes Dwynwen Hapus! – Today is Saint Dwynwen’s day in Wales. Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of love💞 I’d like you all to choose number 21 on the list this week and would like you to make some cards. This could be for your family or friends. Is there someone that you miss seeing? Draw them a picture, have a go at writing your name, then go for a walk and post it. I am sure they would love to receive a card from you.
Staying connected – this is another suggestion you can use with your child to stay connected to friends and family at this time.
This week I would like you to learn the signs for ‘I love you’. Make sure you practice this sentence and then ask a grown up to video you saying/signing ‘I love you’ to someone special like Mum or Dad if they are working hard or Granny and Grandad or a favourite Aunty and Uncle – I think this would be a lovely message that would really brighten someone’s day. Let me know who was lucky enough to receive your special message.
Shape Patterns is a sequencing game where you need to complete the pattern of different coloured 2D shapes. It is a multiple choice game with three levels of difficulty. It is excellent for shape recognition and for problem solving. Click on the links to find some shape games.
Make your own pizzas 🍕
Apart from coffee, one thing that makes Mrs Williams happy is pizza!! Here is a really easy recipe that you can use to make your very own pizzas. You can also use wraps to a make bigger pizzas and add any toppings you like. You could make pizzas for your whole family!
Another great recipe for you to try at home
Here as promised is the list for grownups! Get the grownups to choose 5 things from the list too. Again I would love to see some pictures! I think 36. Singing into a hairbrush is a great start 🎤 🎶😮
Here are some of the funniest stories we love to listen to in class. Which one is your favourite?
I hope you have lots of fun trying some of these activities – tell me which one makes you laugh the most 😆😆 Try and get outside too whilst the weather is cold and crisp. What fun can you have in the woods? At the park? On your bike or scooter?
